As a seasoned Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in the picturesque state of Washington, I bring over sixteen years of dedicated experience to the field of behavioral health. With a solid educational foundation—an undergraduate degree in psychology from Central Washington University (2003) and a master's degree in mental health counseling from Antioch University Seattle (2007)—I am committed to fostering a space of compassion, understanding, and growth.
In my Telemental Health private practice, Scenic Counseling, PLLC, established in May 2022, I specialize in working with older teens and adults, employing evidence-based practices (EBPs) such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Common Elements Treatment Approach (CETA). My focus areas include stress, anxiety, LGBT concerns, trauma, and depression.
As a proud mother of three, juggling the demands of parenthood led me to create a practice that allows me to be present for my family while delivering effective mental health services. My motto, "Share, Aware, Hope, Relief," encapsulates the essence of my therapeutic approach—encouraging open sharing, promoting self-awareness, instilling hope, and ultimately providing relief for those navigating life's challenges.
In addition to my clinical work, I am the owner of As Special as Can Be, LLC, a woman-owned small business. Inspired by my journey, first as an aunt, and later as a mother, I began writing poetry in 2007. This passion evolved into the 'As Special as Can Be' book series, currently in the process of publication. This endeavor reflects my commitment to inclusivity and diversity, offering love stories in rhyme that resonate with children of all backgrounds.
Through As Special as Can Be, LLC, I extend my mission to help individuals manage daily stress through simple, effective skills such as mindfulness techniques, affirmations, and daily gratitude reminders. Whether it's a Gratitude Journal or a Mindfulness Daily Practice Cootie Catcher, each product is designed to bring a sense of calm and self-discovery.
I believe in the power of every individual's unique story, acknowledging the real trauma, strife, and misfortune many of us have faced. If even one person finds solace and improved emotional management through the skills I offer, then the dedication I put into this work becomes immensely rewarding.
Join me on the journey of self-discovery and healing, where you are truly "as special as can be."
